Nemanja Golubovic was born and raised in Montenegro. He earned a degree in public relations in Mexico. Golubovic already spoke four languages ​​and lived and worked in several different countries before immigrating to the United States in January 2015.

When he arrived in the United States, Golubovic worked in the restaurant industry, starting as a host and later as a waiter and bartender. Due to his diligence and hard work, he was promoted to floor manager and eventually general manager of a busy restaurant in downtown Chicago.

Eventually, Golubovic was inspired to create his own restaurant, a dining venue that will serve the most delicious plant-based dishes to vegans. He would call her Kale my name. With his business plan, Golubovic predicted $200-300 in daily sales when he first opened in Chicago in April 2020.

On their first weekend, Kale My Name went through over 500 take-out bags, which he originally bought thinking it would last him 3 months.

Since they started serving their much-loved plant-based dishes, Kale my name has received many five-star reviews on Yelp, Google, Facebook, GrubHub. They received their first nominations in the Chicago Reader for Best Vegan Restaurant and Best Soup in Chicago. On VegOut Magazine, Kale My Name was nominated for being the best vegan restaurant in the country while VegNews Magazine named them the best casual vegan restaurant in the United States.

Top-Rated.online awarded them a trophy for being North Chicago’s Best Vegan Restaurant, and in 2021 Kale My Name won Chicago Reader’s Best Vegan Restaurant in Chicago.

Kale My Name has attracted followers from everyday vegans to celebrities and personalities. American actress Tabitha Brown, from the Showtime series, The Chi, is one of them. She fell in love with Kale My Name’s delicious dishes so much that she decided to team up with Nemanja Golubovic and set up a second branch in Los Angeles in December 2021.
